In 1971, whilst Roger Hargreaves was sitting at the breakfast table, his young son asked the question, “what does a tickle look like?” Being a creative man, Roger got thinking, and thus the first character in the Mr Men books was born.
Mr Tickle is a bright orange character with extraordinarily long arms that he uses to great advantage. He can make his breakfast whilst lying in bed and rescue kites that are stuck in trees, and he just loves to tickle people through windows and letterboxes.
Mr Greedy, Mr Happy, Mr Sneeze and Mr Nosey were just some of the delightful characters that quickly followed Mr Tickle in the series of books that Roger Hargreave’s created. In 1974, the books were brought to the small screen, and in 1977 Mr Men was featured as a comic strip in the Mirror Newspaper.
The Little Miss books arrived in 1981 and readers were introduced to Little Miss Bossy who gives orders and, as her title suggests, loves bossing people around.
A new range of characters were introduced in 2003 to include Mr Rude, Mr Cool and Little Miss Whoops.
Mister Men and Little Miss magazine is bright, bold and fun filled with puzzles, colouring and crafts. Each issue has a cool set of stickers and an exciting free gift. To make sure you don’t miss out on the fun, subscribe here.
