1. What made you want to be a dental nurse?
“I was studying Fine Art and Media at college when I decided I would switch from photography to dental nursing. I worked at a dental practise part time and really enjoyed working in healthcare, so enrolled onto a dental nursing course.”
2. What do you enjoy the most about your job?
“I enjoy helping patients, assisting the dentist in their treatments, and the sense of achievement from my day.”
3. What qualifications did you need?
“I needed Math and English to do a dental course. The course helps people pass those subjects if they don’t already have them.”
4. What does a typical day as dental nurse look like?
“I set up the room before surgery, change into scrubs, and make sure all PPE equipment is available. I need to be one step ahead of the dentist to make sure they have what they need, before they need it. You call patients through, assist the dentist with note taking and put x-rays through the developer.”
5. What advice would you give to anyone who wants to be a dental nurse?
“Have a thirst for knowledge and always use your initiative. Be caring and compassionate.”
