15th April 2021Emperor penguins are the largest species of penguin and reach heights of over 1 metre tall.
Habitat
Emperor Penguins live around the outside of Antarctica and the surrounding waters. They go out into the water to hunt for food but on land like to stay near cliffs or icebergs to shield from the wind.
Features
Emperor Penguins have a very dense layer of feathers and layer of fat just under their skin to trap in the heat.
Their black backs and mostly white fronts help them to avoid predators. If predators look down, they will just see the black depths below and if they look up they see the white of the surface.
