Musicals magazine is the star of the week
21st November 2022Teachers and children explain the benefits of magazines in schools
28th November 2022Pupils and teacher at Hawthrone Primary school review Horrible Histories magazine
The children were instantly engaged in this magazine – they have a clear connection with the content and immediately wanted to start sharing what they had found and what they could do together. They were taken by the humour and activities – they liked those which they could do together, such as the board game. They were interested in the activities more than the educational content, but through completing the activities began to engage more with this content. There was a lot of book talk and chatter throughout the sessions, and they have returned to this magazine again and again. The children in the club are aged between 9 and 11 and I think they were perhaps a little old for this to be a challenging read, but they loved reading it for pleasure.
