An Evening with Kimberley: Celebrating Print Design and Creative Journeys in Our Magazine Room
17th December 2024The Northumbria Magazine Society and Art Society joined forces for an unforgettable evening celebrating local art, fashion, and music at their annual party. This year’s event was held at Tapyard Studios in Byker, where over 110 attendees gathered to immerse themselves in a vibrant creative space.
We were thrilled to be invited to join the line-up of local business stalls, showcasing our wide range of independent magazines. Alongside us were local talents like Mia Rose, featuring stunning prints and merch, and Bad Day Studio, known for their unique, bespoke jewellery.
As the event was hosted by the Magazine Society, our presence felt perfectly aligned with their mission of promoting the power of print to students within creative fields.
A Platform for Local Artists and Creatives
Organized by Mag Society President Elise Waters and Northumbria Art Society President Issy Everton, the event celebrated local art in all its forms. The venue buzzed with creativity, featuring inspiring art exhibits—photography, poetry, and video projections—alongside live music from Leviticus Phillips, whose original songs set the perfect tone. The night continued with a stunning fashion show, where student-designed pieces, modelled by local talent, highlighted exceptional creativity and craftsmanship.
Throughout the evening, we had the pleasure of chatting with students about our magazine collection and what we do. The stall became a space to share the power of print and self-expression through art, poetry, and imagery—something that beautifully mirrored the event’s mission of celebrating creativity.
The night drew to a close with an incredible DJ set from Ellie Webster, as attendees slowly rolled out of the beautiful venue, and we wrapped up our stall.
A Night to Celebrate and Inspire
The event was more than a showcase—it was a celebration of creativity, collaboration, and community. As a magazine collective, we felt privileged to play our part in inspiring students to explore the power of print, art, and self-expression. Events like these remind us of the importance of supporting local talent and creating spaces where artists can thrive.
We look forward to continuing this mission, connecting with more students, and inspiring the next generation of creatives.
