We understand the significant role magazines play, particularly for students in fashion communications. Their final year involves a major project of creating their own magazine, which accounts for about 30% of their final grades. Realizing the potential impact of our publications, we saw an opportunity to inspire and influence these students’ projects, providing them with unique insights and creative fuel.
Our magazines aren’t only beneficial for students nearing the end of their educational journey; they’re also invaluable at the beginning. College represents a major transition from school, offering newfound independence and decisions about future paths. Here too, inspiration is crucial for students eager to embark on their creative careers.
In perfect timing, Alison from Newcastle College got in touch, inquiring about our interest in bringing some magazines to their fashion marketing and communication course in the art and design building. They were looking for business sponsors to offer valuable insights and real-world experiences to their students, and they thought our pop-up would be an ideal way to showcase fantastic products, enhancing the learning experience for students and providing exposure for our brand. Although initially focused on future fashion aficionados, we quickly recognized the broad appeal our pop-up could have among the diverse student body engaged in photography, art, and design courses.

Positioned in the central hub that students frequently pass through, our stand attracted a lot of attention from both students and tutors, eager to learn more about what we offer and the insights we could provide. Students explored new publications, capturing unique ideas for their current and future projects. Ben, a particularly enthusiastic student, had been eagerly anticipating our visit all week, his passion for unique magazine titles palpable.

Although we are always encouraging of people purchasing our magazines, to take home, cherish and use for inspo, that is not the main goal of these visits. Our pop-up stores at educational institutions embody a clear mission: to empower future professionals with inspirational resources. Our goal is to support students in achieving top grades and crafting bright futures for themselves. This mission is driven from passion for print and we can demonstrate this through use of our platform to do big things, in the local community.
One particularly positive interaction was with Zoe, a photography lecturer in the digital arts faculty. Her dual passion for student success and print media was evident as she allocated part of her budget to acquire some of our prints for classroom inspiration. These resources will remain accessible in the classrooms, serving as a creative refuge for students seeking direct engagement with exceptional materials.

The pop-up was a resounding success, fostering valuable connections. We are hopeful that these interactions will pave the way for a lasting partnership with educational institutions, providing students with essential resources and feedback that positively influence their academic and creative pursuits.
